Chocolate
Paris and encore du chocolat...
Paris and encore du chocolat...Any excuse to buy and consume more chocolate: The comtesse de Sévigné wrote "prenez du chocolat afin que les méchantes companies vous paraissent bonnes" (Take chocolate, so that the unpleasant company seems good to you)...yet another excuse to have a little piece.
These days, it seems like a new chocolate shop pops up at every street corner...and old names are being ressurected and modernized like De Neuville which has over 100 shops all over France and an extensive range of chocolates for every moment of the day.
Others prefer to be more selective like the old Levasseur Chocolaterie, 2 rue des Petits Carreaux, Paris 2ème, tel. 01 45 08 92 68. It is a family company from the Poitou area that goes back to 1963 and has opened a Paris shop. Their ganaches are delicious but the must try is their coffee Mojette gianduja in its dark chocolate shell. Vive l'artisanal.
